How to Completely Uninstall Discord from Your Computer?

Discord is a digital distribution platform that is hyped and praised among gamers. Though it is a popular choice for connecting fellow gamers, it is also designed to create communities and let users interact in forums related to business and education.   • From tabs visible on top of the Task Manager, select Startup.
  • Find Discord in the list and select it.
  • Click on the Disable button at the bottom right of the screen.

The second way is to disable Discord from the App Settings.

  • Launch the Discord app and enter App Settings.
  • Expand the User Settings tab and click on Windows Settings.
  • Uncheck the Open Discord under Startup Behavior.

Typically, disabling Discord via either of the two options will let you uninstall Discord. But it is recommended to disable its startup behavior through both of the steps to be absolutely sure.

Uninstall Discord

To uninstall Discord completely from Windows 10:

  • Enter Settings from the Start Menu.
  • Select Apps and open.
  • Find Discord in the list apps and select it.
  • Click the Uninstall button to remove Discord from your PC.

Remove App Remnants

When you’ve uninstalled Discord from your PC, you still have App data and trails left on your PC. And like with any other app, you have to remove the files manually.

First of all, you need to enable viewing hidden files. And to do that:

  • Open File Explorer and expand the View tab.
  • Select options to the far right of the tab and open “Change Folder and Search Options.”
  • Navigate to the View tab again from folder options.
  • Check “Show Hidden Files, Folders, or Drives.”

Once you’ve enabled viewing hidden files, go to the location C:>Users>Username>Appdata. Find and delete the following two folders:

  • Local>Discord
  • Roaming>Discord

Delete Registry Entries

Your PC enters registries for any app that is installed or run on your system. Even after you’ve deleted an app, you will still recover the same registry details when you reinstall it. For a complete uninstallation, you must delete the registry entries for the app as well.

  • Press Win + R, type Regedit and click okay to launch the registry editor.
  • Create a backup for the existing registries by clicking on Export from the File Menu. Select a location to save the backup and name it.
  • After successfully creating a backup, press CTRL + F and type Discord to find all relevant entries.
  • Delete all files that appear for Discord.

How to Uninstall Discord on Mac?

There aren’t any initial preps required for uninstalling Discord on Mac other than ending the Discord process. You can do that bringing right-clicking on the Discord icon and selecting Quit.

Uninstall Discord

  • Press Options + Command + Space to launch the Finder.
  • Open Applications and find the Discord App.
  • Right-click on the App icon and select Move to Trash. Or, you can drag the app to Trash as well.

Remove App Remnants

Deleting app remnants from Mac is as important as it is from Windows. Especially if you want to remove the complete registry and cached data.

  • Press Options + Command + Space to launch the Finder.
  • Select Go, and navigate to the Discord directory.
  • Type in /Library in the search column.
  • Delete the folders named Application Support, Caches, Preferences, and Logs.
