The iPhone 13 series is the latest lineup of Apple’s smartphones, featuring the A15 Bionic chip, improved cameras, 5G support, and a sleek design with reduced notch size. Additionally, the iPhone 13 Pro models boast advanced camera features tailored for photography enthusiasts, while the Ceramic Shield front cover enhances durability for everyday use. With these improvements, the iPhone 13 series offers an impressive and seamless user experience.
The iPhone 13 Series
As we mentioned before, the new iPhone series features four devices in total. If you are on a budget, the iPhone 13 mini is a great pocket-friendly option. However, if you want to spend a little more, the most expensive and the biggest option you have is the iPhone 13 Pro Max. The iPhone 13 mini has many similar features to the basic iPhone 13. The size does not change anything but the price. All of the phones support 5G connectivity. However, the two premium models, the Pro and the Pro Max, have better performance and more extensive storage options to offer.
Here’s a quick comparison of the four new devices:

iPhone 13 Design
Apple didn’t make drastic changes as it did with the previous models. They have continued the same design as their iPhone 12. However, they did make a few simple design improvements which, in my opinion, vastly improved the previous design model. The iPhone 13 has an aluminum body with flat edges, like the iPhone 5. They have given a larger screen area by narrowing the notch that contains the speaker, camera, and Face ID technology.
Choosing the same outer design does not mean they have gone forward with the same inner tech as well. They have introduced a larger battery in the new phones without compromising the slim-built design of the phone, and it’s still lightweight. All the devices introduced this year possess a longer battery life than the previously introduced generations.
We have mentioned it in the table above, but we will type it down here for further clarity. Surprisingly, the iPhone 13 and mini will be available in five colors: pink, blue, midnight, starlight, and everyone’s favorite red. The iPhone 13 and 13 Pro Max will be available in graphite, gold, silver, and new color called Sierra Blue.
Vastly Improved Cameras
The iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini now supports the larger wide-angle camera sensor, previously in last year’s iPhone 12 Pro Max. Capturing astounding 1.7-micron pixels means the new iPhone 13 will provide much better low-light performance. Besides, the cameras carry similar specs to the previous year’s model. However, Apple proclaims that these are better. This isn’t false, considering the integration of their new A15 Bionic processor means better image processing.
Moreover, the other two models have an even greater number of improvements. The iPhone 13 Pro and Pro Max now have a new telephoto camera which has a 3x zoom (77mm) and Night Mode support as well. The UltraWide camera has an aperture of f/1.8, which according to Apple, vastly improves low-light performance by almost 92 percent. They have also increased the pixel size of their standard 12MP wide camera to 1.9-micron pixels and an aperture of f/1.5. The most interesting feature of the new iPhone is the ability to film as close as 2cm. This opens up an entire world of macro photography.
Lastly, Apple is launching a Cinematic Mode for filming videos. And this mode will automatically shoot in Dolby HDR and provides you with an automatic (or manual) rack focus mode which allows the user to change the video’s focus, even after shooting. I don’t know about you, but that excites me.
The Powerful A15 Processor
Apple openly proclaims to have built the fastest processor ever in a smartphone but doesn’t disclose the performance metrics. Like most high-tech processors, the A15 has a 6-core CPU with four high-efficiency and two high-performance cores. Again, in Apple’s words, it is 50 percent faster than the fastest competing smartphone processor to date. Furthermore, they claim that the 5-core GPU is up to 30 percent faster than any competing smartphone chip. If the performance agrees with these proclamations, Apple has created a marvel. Sidenote, the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini only support a 4-core GPU; therefore, graphics performance will be better in the Pro series.
The processor still holds a 16-core Neural Engine; however, now it performs upward of 15.8 trillion operations per second. Comparing it to the A14 chip, which could do up to 11 trillion, this is a ginormous improvement. Apple also promises faster storage throughput and bandwidth.
The Battery Lasts Longer
Now, Apple does not reveal the exact battery capacity of its devices. Meaning we won’t have the exact idea till someone does use it. But Apple did mention that the new phones have larger batteries. And also, the A15 Bionic consumes less energy which guarantees a larger battery life.
According to Apple, the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini have a better battery life than the 12 and 12 Mini, which will last 1.5 hours more than the latter. Even better, the iPhone 13 Pro Max boasts 2.5 hours more than the iPhone 12 Pro Max.
Apple proves the battery life of its products in terms of hours of typical video playback. To give you a better idea of the new phone’s battery in comparison with the iPhone 12, here are Apple’s typical video playback battery life figures in comparison to the iPhone 12:
iPhone 13 mini: 17 hours (up from 15)
iPhone 13: 19 hours (up from 17)
iPhone 13 Pro: 22 hours (up from 17)
iPhone 13 Pro Max: 28 hours (up from 20)
Storage Capacity
With the iPhone 13, every model now comes with no less than 128GB of storage, with 256GB and 512GB variants available. The iPhone 13 Pro and Pro Max both offer 1TB storage choices. Also the iPhone 12 versions, on the other hand, started at 64GB and went up to 128GB and 256 GB. With 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB versions, the iPhone 12 Pro increased all those storage capacities.
